Like many of you, my path wasn't straightforward. I've always been an athlete at heart—from gymnastics to soccer to softball. If it involved competition, I was all in. Pitching for LaSalle University was a highlight of my early athletic career, but life has a way of evolving our priorities.
When I became a mother of four, I faced the reality that many of you know all too well: balancing fitness with family responsibilities isn't easy. The conventional wisdom that you should "just make time" for fitness ignores the complexity of real life. There were days when finding even 30 minutes for myself seemed impossible.
It was a friend who introduced me to CrossFit Newtown, and it reignited something in me that I thought I'd lost. The community supported me not just in workouts, but in finding sustainable ways to integrate fitness into my busy life. This experience fundamentally shaped my approach to nutrition coaching when I earned my Precision Nutrition certification in 2017.
At CrossFit Newtown, our Trifecta Nutrition Coaching isn't about restrictive diets or unsustainable meal plans. The name "Trifecta" represents our three-pronged approach to nutrition:
This approach sets us apart from cookie-cutter nutrition programs that treat everyone the same. When you join Trifecta Nutrition Coaching, you're not getting a generic meal plan—you're getting a nutrition strategy specifically designed for your body, goals, and lifestyle.
CrossFit workouts are known for their intensity. Whether you're doing "Fran" or "Murph," you're asking your body to perform at high levels. Without proper nutritional support, you're essentially trying to drive a high-performance car with low-quality fuel.
Our CrossFit athletes who participate in Trifecta Nutrition Coaching consistently report:
These benefits extend beyond the gym. Parents notice they have more energy to play with their kids. Professionals report better focus at work. Weekend warriors find they can enjoy active hobbies without feeling depleted.
If you're considering joining our program, here's what the journey looks like:
Initial Assessment: We begin with a comprehensive evaluation of your current nutrition, lifestyle factors, fitness goals, and any specific challenges you face. This isn't just about numbers on a scale—it's about understanding your relationship with food and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Customized Strategy: Based on your assessment, we develop a nutrition approach tailored to your specific needs. For some, this might mean focusing on meal timing around workouts. For others, it could involve addressing specific macronutrient balances or food sensitivities.
Ongoing Support: Nutrition isn't a "set it and forget it" proposition. As your body changes and your fitness improves, your nutritional needs evolve too. We provide regular check-ins, adjustments, and accountability to ensure continued progress.
Community Integration: One unique aspect of our program is how we integrate nutrition discussions into the broader CrossFit Newtown community. Group workshops, recipe exchanges, and community challenges make nutrition a shared journey rather than a solitary struggle.
What makes me most proud as a nutrition coach isn't seeing dramatic before-and-after photos (though those can be inspiring). It's witnessing the subtle but profound changes in how our members relate to food.
Take Sarah, a member who joined our program last year. As a busy executive and mother of two, she had fallen into a cycle of skipping meals during hectic workdays, then overeating at night. Through Trifecta Nutrition Coaching, she learned simple meal prep strategies that fit her schedule. Six months later, not only had her body composition improved, but she reported feeling "in control around food for the first time in years."
Or consider Mike, an experienced CrossFitter who had plateaued in his performance. By adjusting his carbohydrate timing and overall caloric intake, he broke through a two-year PR plateau on his clean and jerk within three months.
These stories illustrate what I consider the true measure of success: creating a sustainable, positive relationship with food that enhances both performance and quality of life.
While macronutrients (proteins, carbs, and fats) get most of the attention in fitness nutrition, at CrossFit Newtown we recognize that the psychological aspects of eating are equally important.
Many of our members come to us with years of dieting baggage—restrictive eating patterns, guilt around certain foods, or anxiety about social eating situations. Part of our coaching process involves addressing these issues with the same attention we give to meal planning.
We teach strategies for mindful eating, managing social situations, and developing a positive internal dialogue around food choices. This holistic approach is what allows for truly sustainable results.
As a coach, I view my role as a collaborative storyteller. Each member has their own narrative around food and fitness, and I'm privileged to help shape the next chapters of those stories.
Whether you're just beginning your fitness journey or you're looking to optimize years of training, the Trifecta Nutrition Coaching program at CrossFit Newtown offers personalized guidance, community support, and expert knowledge to help you succeed.
I invite you to reach out and learn more about how our program can transform not just how you look and perform, but how you experience food and nutrition in your daily life. After all, nutrition shouldn't be the hardest part of your fitness journey—it should be one of the most rewarding.
